Our passion for creating the finest New Zealand spirits comes from our vast bartending experience in the hospitality industry, where we learnt that the best beverages tell stories. These stories aren't just about how they're mixed, poured and served: they're about what they're made from, where they're made and how they're made: the ingredients, process, place and people that come together to create something spectacular.
Blair and Ricardo saw an opportunity to create a range of premium, modern spirits that fit the needs of the new school of drinker: those looking for a higher quality New Zealand drop that could be sipped and savoured with friends. Something that would look good, taste good, and elevate the after work G&T. Something that was both crafted and creative, contemporary and classic.
In a stroke of incredible luck, a space became available from which the boys could get to work. But this wasn't any old space: although yes, it was old, it was also widely recognised as the jewel in the architectural crown of Napier, a seaside town on New Zealand's East Coast. Formally known as the National Tobacco Company Ltd, the building is an impressive example of the birth of modernism in New Zealand. It seemed an appropriate home for the re-birth of modern spirits: and so, the National Distillery Company was born.
From our HQ in Napier, New Zealand, we distill gin, vodka, rum and whisky from our state-of-the-art copper stills. We source the highest quality ingredients from around our beautiful country and the world, hand selecting and blending to create spirits which tell stories. And we've opened our doors to the public for you to come in and learn about our process and products in person.
